The Art of Creating Art
What we can learn from Matisse, Basquiat, and Jamin
The act of creating art is what I see akin to an encounter with the divine. All great artists seem to gospel a unified theme of some universal truth as they master the art of creating something out of scratch — creating value from thin air.
“I start a picture and I finish it. I don’t think about art while I work. I try to think about life.”
Jean-Michel Basquiat
"My only religion is love of the work to be created, and total sincerity."
Henri Matisse
